Expolanka facilitated Sri Lanka to officially take part in the earth hour 2010 & successfully participated in this initiative.
On Saturday, March 27 2010 at 8:30 pm, Expolanka and all its employees took part in Earth Hour - the world's largest global climate change initiative led by the World Wildlife Fund. By simply turning out all non-essential lighting for one hour - at our company buildings and in our own homes - we joined hundreds of millions of concerned citizens across the globe in showing the world we can work together to resolve the issue of global warming.
The "Expolanka Green Team" - which organizes CSR and Green Initiatives across the group of companies, joined with the Earth Hour Global team from WWF, in getting Sri Lanka as a country to officially participate in this event for the first time and subsequently was appointed by the organizers to play the role of Country Coordinators for the Earth Hour Event in Sri Lanka.
Not stopping at the 60 minutes of lights being turned out, Expolanka will continue to take a close look at ways our company can operate more efficiently, waste less and reduce our environmental footprint-not only in our own operations, but throughout our supply chain. Joining Earth Hour was a great way to show our customers and our community that the people of Expolanka genuinely care about their future and are showing leadership in the battle against the most critical issue facing the planet today.
